Rodent Control in
Richmond, VA
Rodent control for homes across Richmond and the surrounding area, from our shop in South Hill. We look at the property through both the pest and the moisture lens on the same visit.
How We Approach Rodent Control Here
Trapping alone treats the symptom. Exclusion treats the reason they got in.
Mice and rats get into houses through gaps most homeowners never look at: crawl space vents, gaps around utility penetrations, unsealed sill plates, garage door corners and roof line junctions. A mouse needs an opening the width of a pencil. Our rodent service begins with an inspection that traces the actual runways. Droppings, gnaw marks, smudge along baseboards and shredded insulation all tell us where the population is traveling and where it is entering. From there we reduce the active population and seal the openings with materials rodents cannot chew through. We pay particular attention to the crawl space, because that is where most rural and semi rural entry happens in our region, and because a damp crawl space is far more attractive to a rodent than a dry sealed one. Where sanitation is needed after a long infestation, we address contaminated insulation and nesting material as part of the work.

An old river city with a long humid season.
River Valley Humidity
The James River valley holds warm humid air through the summer, and a vented crawl space or an unfinished basement takes that air in and lets it condense on anything cooler than the air itself.
Older City Housing
Neighborhoods built a century ago sit on brick foundations, dirt floor crawl spaces and basements that were never meant to be sealed without first addressing what is under them.
Mature Urban Landscaping
Old street trees, established beds and mulch against the foundation give termites a covered route to the structure, and long settled ground carries long settled colonies.
Rodent Control Signs We Check For in Richmond
- Rodent Droppings Droppings map where rodents travel and feed, and they tell you whether the activity is current.
- Gnawed Wires and Wood Teeth marks on wood, wiring or packaging show you where rodents travel and what they are trying to reach.
- Scratching Sounds in the Walls at Night The house goes quiet, and something starts moving inside the wall. The timing and the sound narrow down what it is.
