What Affects the Cost
Pricing depends on the size of the property, the extent of the problem, and how easy the area is to access.
One mound is a spot treatment. A yard full of them is a different plan.
Fire ants announce themselves. A mound of loose, fluffy soil appears in the lawn, often after rain, with no visible entrance hole. Step on it or mow over it and workers pour out and sting. The sting itself is a sharp burn, followed a day later by a small white blister. Most people are stung on the feet and ankles because the mound was not noticed until it was underfoot.
A fire ant colony lives mostly underground, so the mound is only the roof. Tunnels run outward for several feet, and the colony moves the mound up and down with the weather. After heavy rain the ants push the mound higher to get above the wet soil. In dry heat they retreat deeper and the mound flattens, which can look like the colony left when it has not. Kicking a mound apart or pouring boiling water on it kills some workers and usually prompts the colony to relocate a few feet away.
We treat fire ants two ways, depending on how many mounds you have. When a lawn has a few mounds, we spot treat each one directly. The product goes into the mound so it reaches the colony below rather than the workers on top. When mounds are spread across the whole property, a mound by mound approach falls behind, so we broadcast a product across the lawn. Foraging workers pick it up and carry it back to colonies we can see and colonies we cannot.
For homeowners already on our pest prevention program, fire ant control is available as an add on. It fits into the regular service schedule, so the lawn is treated on a routine rather than after someone gets stung. Your technician can tell you which approach suits your property once they have walked the yard. The inspection is free and there is no obligation.
Two honest limits. Fire ants live in the fields, ditches and roadsides around your property, and new queens fly in each year to start new colonies. Treatment brings the population on your lawn down to the lowest practical level and keeps it there with routine attention. It does not stop the next queen from landing. Fire ant work also happens outdoors, so it does not deal with the sugar ants trailing through the kitchen. Those are a separate service and a separate product.
We choose the treatment method based on what we find during the inspection and the type of pest problem on the property.
Treat the mounds you can see, or the whole lawn when the colonies are everywhere.
A treated zone the ants cannot detect, so they walk through it and carry it home.
A residual band around the house that ants have to cross to get in.
Workers carry the bait home and share it, so the colony is treated where it lives.
When the colony lives in the wall, the treatment goes into the wall.
Generic advice treats every market identically. Humid summers, wooded lots and a great deal of older housing stock give this region a moisture profile that drives both structural damage and pest pressure, which is why our diagnosis starts with where the home sits and how it is built, not just with the symptom you called about.
For much of the year the outside air across this region holds more moisture than the air under a crawl space. That inverts the assumption foundation vents were built on. Warm, humid air enters through the vents, meets the cooler surfaces beneath the floor, and condenses on joists, ductwork and insulation. The vents intended to dry the space are wetting it instead.
That single mechanism explains most of what we are called out for. Damp framing softens and decays. Mold establishes and its odor rises into the living space through the floor. Termites, cockroaches and rodents are drawn to exactly those conditions. Treating the insects without addressing the moisture underneath simply resets the clock.
Around Lake Gaston and across the forested parts of Mecklenburg, Brunswick, Warren and Halifax counties, shade and tree cover keep soil damp well after the surrounding area has dried. Standing water lingers, foundations stay wet longer after rain, and mosquito habitat persists through more of the season. Properties like these frequently need drainage attention before any treatment is worth doing.
Petersburg and Danville in particular carry a great deal of older housing, and age brings construction details that predate current moisture practice: open crawl spaces with bare soil, wood in direct contact with the ground, original drainage that has silted up, and decades of accumulated repairs. An inspection of a house like that has to read the whole system rather than one symptom.
The signs below are the most common pest and moisture indicators we see in homes in our region. Any of them is worth having looked at during an inspection.
Our specialists evaluate the underlying cause before recommending any work. Inspections are at no cost and there's no obligation to proceed.
Rozier is a family owned, faith-driven company based in South Hill. Because moisture is what invites termites and rodents in the first place, real prevention starts below the surface.
We treat the infestation and correct the moisture conditions that caused it, instead of handing you to a second contractor.
Each home we visit is assessed through a pest lens and a moisture lens, because underneath a house they are the same problem.
We do not arrive with a predetermined treatment and a timer running. What we propose follows from what we find.
Children, pets and sensitive family members are part of the decision about what gets used and how it is applied.

Every home is different, so the cost depends on what we find during the inspection. We provide a written estimate based on the scope of work, access, and site conditions.

A broadcast lawn treatment is more than you need for a single mound beside the driveway. That is a spot treatment, and the inspection will say so.
We put the scope and price in writing before work starts, so you know what has been recommended and what it will cost.
