How it works

What Sanitation and HEPA Vacuum Cleanout Is and When It Is the Right Call

Cleanout is the right call when the German cockroach population has outgrown bait. The signs are cockroaches out in daylight, egg cases and droppings in many places, and a musty, oily odor in the kitchen. At that size the population is producing new nymphs faster than bait can run it down, and the egg cases cemented in cracks would keep hatching for weeks.

The technician starts at the harborage: behind and under the refrigerator and stove, inside the cabinet under the sink, along the backs of drawers and in the gaps around the dishwasher. A HEPA vacuum with a crevice tool pulls out live insects, egg cases, shed skins and the buildup of droppings. The bag or canister is sealed and removed from the home.

Sanitation is the homeowner's half of the step, and the treatment depends on it. Grease on the stove hood, crumbs behind the toaster, a damp cabinet floor under a slow drip and cardboard boxes stored in the pantry all feed and shelter cockroaches. We point out what we find and ask you to deal with it. Once the harborage is clean, the liquid application goes into the same cracks and voids, and bait is placed in the spots the liquid cannot reach.

For American and smoky brown cockroaches, the prep is about water. These are large outdoor and drain species that come inside because something is wet: a leaking trap under a sink, a sweating pipe in the crawl space, a clogged gutter over the roofline. We ask you to fix the leaks before treatment, because the general spray inside, under and around the home holds up far better when the water source is gone. Where the damp comes from a crawl space, we can correct that ourselves.

Cleanout does not replace the treatment. It is the first part of a severe German cockroach job, done so the product that follows reaches a smaller, exposed population. Expect a noticeable drop the same day and a further decline over the following week or two.

How We Carry Out a Sanitation and HEPA Vacuum Cleanout

Step 01

Confirm the species and severity

We inspect for live insects, egg cases, droppings and odor to confirm German cockroaches and judge whether the population is beyond bait alone.

Step 02

Vacuum the harborage

Using a HEPA vacuum and crevice tool, we remove live cockroaches, egg cases, shed skins and droppings from behind appliances, under the sink and along cabinet and drawer gaps. The bag or canister is sealed and taken out of the home.

Step 03

Address the food and water

We show you the grease, crumbs, stored cardboard and drips that are feeding the population, and ask you to correct them. For American and smoky brown cockroaches, water leaks are fixed before treatment.

Step 04

Apply the liquid treatment

With the harborage cleaned out, a liquid application goes into the same cracks and voids. Bait is placed where liquid cannot reach.

Step 05

Follow up

We return to check for remaining activity, refresh bait and confirm the conditions that fed the population have changed.

Why Rozier

A Local, Family Owned Team in South Hill

Rozier is a family owned, faith-driven company based in South Hill. Because moisture is what invites termites and rodents in the first place, real prevention starts below the surface.

One team, above and below the surface.

We treat the infestation and correct the moisture conditions that caused it, instead of handing you to a second contractor.

Every property evaluated for both pest and moisture problems.

Each home we visit is assessed through a pest lens and a moisture lens, because underneath a house they are the same problem.

Inspection before recommendation.

We do not arrive with a predetermined treatment and a timer running. What we propose follows from what we find.

Products chosen with your household in mind.

Children, pets and sensitive family members are part of the decision about what gets used and how it is applied.
