What Affects the Cost
Pricing depends on the size of the property, the extent of the problem, and how easy the area is to access.
Confirming the pest comes before choosing the treatment.
Is it really bed bugs? That is the first question, and it is worth answering properly before anything is bought. Bites alone do not confirm bed bugs. Fleas, mosquitoes, mites and several skin conditions produce marks that look similar, and people react to bites so differently that some household members show nothing while others show welts. An inspection looks for the insect and its evidence rather than judging from the skin.
The inspection starts at the bed, because bed bugs stay close to where people sleep. A technician strips the bedding and checks the mattress seams, piping and tags, then the box spring, especially the underside and the dust cover, then the frame and headboard. Bed bugs hide in the joints and screw holes of a frame and behind a headboard mounted to the wall. From there the search widens to nightstands, upholstered chairs, the edge of the carpet, baseboards, outlet covers and picture frames within a few feet of the bed.
What we are looking for is more than a live bug. Fecal spots look like small dark dots that bleed into fabric like a felt tip mark. Cast skins are the pale, translucent shells nymphs leave behind as they grow. Eggs are about the size of a pinhead, white and glued in clusters inside seams. Any one of these confirms the pest. Live adults are flat, reddish brown and roughly the size of an apple seed, and nymphs are smaller and lighter in color until they feed.
Inspections are free and carry no obligation. If we find bed bugs, you get a plain explanation of where the activity is, how far it has spread and what the treatment plan would involve. If we find something else, or nothing, you hear that instead. In a rental building or a hotel, we will tell you which units or rooms show activity so the plan covers the right spaces.
Discretion is part of the service. We understand what a bed bug problem feels like to a homeowner or a landlord, and we handle the visit accordingly. There is no need to prepare the room for an inspection beyond leaving the bed accessible, and you are welcome to be there while the technician works so you can see what is found and ask questions on the spot.
We choose the treatment method based on what we find during the inspection and the type of pest problem on the property.
Generic advice treats every market identically. Humid summers, wooded lots and a great deal of older housing stock give this region a moisture profile that drives both structural damage and pest pressure, which is why our diagnosis starts with where the home sits and how it is built, not just with the symptom you called about.
For much of the year the outside air across this region holds more moisture than the air under a crawl space. That inverts the assumption foundation vents were built on. Warm, humid air enters through the vents, meets the cooler surfaces beneath the floor, and condenses on joists, ductwork and insulation. The vents intended to dry the space are wetting it instead.
That single mechanism explains most of what we are called out for. Damp framing softens and decays. Mold establishes and its odor rises into the living space through the floor. Termites, cockroaches and rodents are drawn to exactly those conditions. Treating the insects without addressing the moisture underneath simply resets the clock.
Around Lake Gaston and across the forested parts of Mecklenburg, Brunswick, Warren and Halifax counties, shade and tree cover keep soil damp well after the surrounding area has dried. Standing water lingers, foundations stay wet longer after rain, and mosquito habitat persists through more of the season. Properties like these frequently need drainage attention before any treatment is worth doing.
Petersburg and Danville in particular carry a great deal of older housing, and age brings construction details that predate current moisture practice: open crawl spaces with bare soil, wood in direct contact with the ground, original drainage that has silted up, and decades of accumulated repairs. An inspection of a house like that has to read the whole system rather than one symptom.
The signs below are the most common pest and moisture indicators we see in homes in our region. Any of them is worth having looked at during an inspection.
Our specialists evaluate the underlying cause before recommending any work. Inspections are at no cost and there's no obligation to proceed.
Rozier is a family owned, faith-driven company based in South Hill. Because moisture is what invites termites and rodents in the first place, real prevention starts below the surface.
We treat the infestation and correct the moisture conditions that caused it, instead of handing you to a second contractor.
Each home we visit is assessed through a pest lens and a moisture lens, because underneath a house they are the same problem.
We do not arrive with a predetermined treatment and a timer running. What we propose follows from what we find.
Children, pets and sensitive family members are part of the decision about what gets used and how it is applied.

Every home is different, so the cost depends on what we find during the inspection. We provide a written estimate based on the scope of work, access, and site conditions.
Pricing depends on the size of the property, the extent of the problem, and how easy the area is to access.
If the inspection points to a different problem or a simpler solution, we’ll explain that and recommend the appropriate next step.
We put the scope and price in writing before work starts, so you know what has been recommended and what it will cost.
