What Affects the Cost
Pricing depends on the size of the property, the extent of the problem, and how easy the area is to access.
The evidence is easier to find than the insect.
How do you know if you have bed bugs? Most people notice bites first, but bites are the least reliable sign. Reactions range from nothing at all to raised itchy welts, and they take anywhere from a few hours to several days to appear. A pattern helps: bed bug bites often show up in a rough line or cluster on skin that was uncovered during sleep, such as arms, shoulders, neck and face. Even so, bites alone cannot confirm the pest.
Fecal spotting is the sign worth learning. Bed bugs digest blood and leave small dark spots, black or rust colored, that soak into fabric rather than sitting on top of it. They gather along mattress seams, on the box spring, behind the headboard and on the sheets themselves. A row of dots along a seam is a strong indicator. Blood smears on sheets from a crushed bug or a bite that bled are common too, though they are less specific.
Cast skins and eggs confirm a breeding population. A bed bug sheds its skin five times as it grows, leaving behind a pale, hollow shell shaped like the insect. Eggs are white, about a millimeter long and glued in clusters inside seams, cracks and the joints of furniture. Finding either one means the population has been present long enough to reproduce. A heavy population sometimes produces a sweet, musty odor in the room, though most homeowners notice other evidence long before that point.
Where to look matters more than how hard. Bed bugs stay within a few feet of where people sleep or sit for long periods. Check mattress seams and piping, the underside of the box spring, screw holes and joints in the bed frame, the back of the headboard, nightstand drawers, the seams of upholstered chairs and couches, the edge of the carpet along the wall, and behind outlet covers and picture frames near the bed.
Several things get mistaken for bed bugs. Carpet beetle larvae, bat bugs, spider beetles and small cockroach nymphs all turn up in bedrooms. Flea bites cluster at the ankles rather than the upper body. If you find something and are not sure, keep the specimen in a sealed bag or take a clear photo and ask. A free inspection settles the question, and if it turns out to be something else you will hear that.
We choose the treatment method based on what we find during the inspection and the type of pest problem on the property.
Generic advice treats every market identically. Humid summers, wooded lots and a great deal of older housing stock give this region a moisture profile that drives both structural damage and pest pressure, which is why our diagnosis starts with where the home sits and how it is built, not just with the symptom you called about.
For much of the year the outside air across this region holds more moisture than the air under a crawl space. That inverts the assumption foundation vents were built on. Warm, humid air enters through the vents, meets the cooler surfaces beneath the floor, and condenses on joists, ductwork and insulation. The vents intended to dry the space are wetting it instead.
That single mechanism explains most of what we are called out for. Damp framing softens and decays. Mold establishes and its odor rises into the living space through the floor. Termites, cockroaches and rodents are drawn to exactly those conditions. Treating the insects without addressing the moisture underneath simply resets the clock.
Around Lake Gaston and across the forested parts of Mecklenburg, Brunswick, Warren and Halifax counties, shade and tree cover keep soil damp well after the surrounding area has dried. Standing water lingers, foundations stay wet longer after rain, and mosquito habitat persists through more of the season. Properties like these frequently need drainage attention before any treatment is worth doing.
Petersburg and Danville in particular carry a great deal of older housing, and age brings construction details that predate current moisture practice: open crawl spaces with bare soil, wood in direct contact with the ground, original drainage that has silted up, and decades of accumulated repairs. An inspection of a house like that has to read the whole system rather than one symptom.
The signs below are the most common pest and moisture indicators we see in homes in our region. Any of them is worth having looked at during an inspection.
Our specialists evaluate the underlying cause before recommending any work. Inspections are at no cost and there's no obligation to proceed.
Rozier is a family owned, faith-driven company based in South Hill. Because moisture is what invites termites and rodents in the first place, real prevention starts below the surface.
We treat the infestation and correct the moisture conditions that caused it, instead of handing you to a second contractor.
Each home we visit is assessed through a pest lens and a moisture lens, because underneath a house they are the same problem.
We do not arrive with a predetermined treatment and a timer running. What we propose follows from what we find.
Children, pets and sensitive family members are part of the decision about what gets used and how it is applied.

Every home is different, so the cost depends on what we find during the inspection. We provide a written estimate based on the scope of work, access, and site conditions.
Pricing depends on the size of the property, the extent of the problem, and how easy the area is to access.
If the inspection points to a different problem or a simpler solution, we’ll explain that and recommend the appropriate next step.
We put the scope and price in writing before work starts, so you know what has been recommended and what it will cost.
