What Affects the Cost
Pricing depends on the size of the property, the extent of the problem, and how easy the area is to access.
The population rebuilds after every rain, so the treatment has to keep pace with it.
Mosquito season in southern Virginia and northern North Carolina runs from the first warm, wet weeks of spring until the first hard frost in fall. Through that stretch the population does not stay put. It rebuilds every time it rains, because a mosquito goes from egg to biting adult in about a week to ten days of warm weather in water that has been standing that long. A single treatment knocks the population down for a while, and then the next generation matures behind it.
That is why we treat mosquitoes on a recurring basis rather than as a single visit. Seasonal treatment is a series of applications spaced through the warm months, each one renewing the barrier as rain, new growth and sun wear the previous one down.
The barrier application is aimed at where adult mosquitoes rest during the day, not at the air. Mosquitoes spend the daylight hours on the shaded undersides of leaves, in dense shrub lines, along fence rows, under decks and on the cool, damp side of the house. Treating those resting sites is what reduces the number that come out to bite in the evening. Open lawn gets very little, because very little rests there.
Larvicide handles the other end of the life cycle. Some standing water cannot be drained: a low spot that holds water after every storm, a drainage structure, an ornamental pond or a rain barrel. Larvicide placed in that water stops the larvae from developing into adults, so the site stops producing the next generation.
Each visit also includes a look around the property for new breeding sites. Water shows up in different places as the season goes on. A tarp goes over a boat, a kiddie pool comes out, a gutter clogs with spring pollen and then with summer leaves. Your technician will point out what has changed and what you can tip out or remove yourself.
We do not promise a yard with no mosquitoes. They fly in from neighboring lots and from wooded and lakeside ground that no one treats, and around Lake Gaston and other damp, shaded properties that pressure is constant. What recurring treatment does is hold the population on your property at a level where you can use the yard in the evening. How large that difference is depends on how much shade and water your lot and the lots around it hold, and we will tell you what to expect after we have walked it. Mosquito treatment is a separate service from the pest prevention program, because it runs on its own schedule and uses its own method.
We choose the treatment method based on what we find during the inspection and the type of pest problem on the property.
Generic advice treats every market identically. Humid summers, wooded lots and a great deal of older housing stock give this region a moisture profile that drives both structural damage and pest pressure, which is why our diagnosis starts with where the home sits and how it is built, not just with the symptom you called about.
For much of the year the outside air across this region holds more moisture than the air under a crawl space. That inverts the assumption foundation vents were built on. Warm, humid air enters through the vents, meets the cooler surfaces beneath the floor, and condenses on joists, ductwork and insulation. The vents intended to dry the space are wetting it instead.
That single mechanism explains most of what we are called out for. Damp framing softens and decays. Mold establishes and its odor rises into the living space through the floor. Termites, cockroaches and rodents are drawn to exactly those conditions. Treating the insects without addressing the moisture underneath simply resets the clock.
Around Lake Gaston and across the forested parts of Mecklenburg, Brunswick, Warren and Halifax counties, shade and tree cover keep soil damp well after the surrounding area has dried. Standing water lingers, foundations stay wet longer after rain, and mosquito habitat persists through more of the season. Properties like these frequently need drainage attention before any treatment is worth doing.
Petersburg and Danville in particular carry a great deal of older housing, and age brings construction details that predate current moisture practice: open crawl spaces with bare soil, wood in direct contact with the ground, original drainage that has silted up, and decades of accumulated repairs. An inspection of a house like that has to read the whole system rather than one symptom.
The signs below are the most common pest and moisture indicators we see in homes in our region. Any of them is worth having looked at during an inspection.
Our specialists evaluate the underlying cause before recommending any work. Inspections are at no cost and there's no obligation to proceed.
Rozier is a family owned, faith-driven company based in South Hill. Because moisture is what invites termites and rodents in the first place, real prevention starts below the surface.
We treat the infestation and correct the moisture conditions that caused it, instead of handing you to a second contractor.
Each home we visit is assessed through a pest lens and a moisture lens, because underneath a house they are the same problem.
We do not arrive with a predetermined treatment and a timer running. What we propose follows from what we find.
Children, pets and sensitive family members are part of the decision about what gets used and how it is applied.

Every home is different, so the cost depends on what we find during the inspection. We provide a written estimate based on the scope of work, access, and site conditions.
Pricing depends on the size of the property, the extent of the problem, and how easy the area is to access.
A seasonal schedule is more than you need for a single event, such as an outdoor party, where a one time barrier application shortly before the date does the job. It is also the wrong purchase if the yard's only problem is a few containers holding water, which you can empty yourself.
We put the scope and price in writing before work starts, so you know what has been recommended and what it will cost.
