What Affects the Cost
Pricing depends on the size of the property, the extent of the problem, and how easy the area is to access.
Every mosquito in your yard started in standing water, usually within a short walk of where it bit you.
Every mosquito biting you in your yard started life in standing water, and most of that water is close by. Mosquitoes do not need much. A bottle cap holds enough for larvae to develop. Water that has been sitting for about a week in warm weather is enough to produce adults. So the fastest way to reduce a mosquito population is to take away the water it grows in, and that is work a homeowner can do a great deal of on their own.
Source reduction begins with a walk of the property. Your technician goes around the house and yard with you and points out what is holding water. Some of it is obvious once it is named: clogged gutters, the saucers under potted plants, a wheelbarrow left upright, a tarp over a woodpile or a boat, an old tire, a bird bath, a child's toy in the grass, a bucket by the hose. Some of it is less obvious: the cupped leaves of certain plants, a low spot in the lawn that stays soft after rain, the tray under an air conditioner, a length of corrugated pipe lying in the yard with water in the ridges, a boat cover sagging into a pool.
Then the list splits in two. The first part is what you can remove or change. Tip out and turn over containers. Empty and refill bird baths and pet bowls every few days. Clear the gutters so water runs instead of pooling. Store tarps, buckets and toys where they stay dry. Fill or drain low spots where you can. Those changes cost nothing and they remove breeding sites for the rest of the season.
The second part is what we treat. Some water cannot be removed: an ornamental pond, a rain barrel, a drainage structure, a low wooded area that holds water for weeks. For those we use larvicide, which stops larvae in that water from developing into adults. It is aimed at the water, not the yard, and it is what makes the barrier treatment on the resting sites hold up better.
Around Lake Gaston and on wooded lots across southern Virginia and northern North Carolina, the shade keeps water from evaporating and the leaf litter holds moisture for a long time. Those properties benefit most from a careful walk, because the breeding sites are spread out and easy to overlook.
Source reduction is part of every mosquito service we do rather than a separate purchase. Removing the water you can, and treating the water you cannot, is what makes the rest of the work last.
We choose the treatment method based on what we find during the inspection and the type of pest problem on the property.
Generic advice treats every market identically. Humid summers, wooded lots and a great deal of older housing stock give this region a moisture profile that drives both structural damage and pest pressure, which is why our diagnosis starts with where the home sits and how it is built, not just with the symptom you called about.
For much of the year the outside air across this region holds more moisture than the air under a crawl space. That inverts the assumption foundation vents were built on. Warm, humid air enters through the vents, meets the cooler surfaces beneath the floor, and condenses on joists, ductwork and insulation. The vents intended to dry the space are wetting it instead.
That single mechanism explains most of what we are called out for. Damp framing softens and decays. Mold establishes and its odor rises into the living space through the floor. Termites, cockroaches and rodents are drawn to exactly those conditions. Treating the insects without addressing the moisture underneath simply resets the clock.
Around Lake Gaston and across the forested parts of Mecklenburg, Brunswick, Warren and Halifax counties, shade and tree cover keep soil damp well after the surrounding area has dried. Standing water lingers, foundations stay wet longer after rain, and mosquito habitat persists through more of the season. Properties like these frequently need drainage attention before any treatment is worth doing.
Petersburg and Danville in particular carry a great deal of older housing, and age brings construction details that predate current moisture practice: open crawl spaces with bare soil, wood in direct contact with the ground, original drainage that has silted up, and decades of accumulated repairs. An inspection of a house like that has to read the whole system rather than one symptom.
The signs below are the most common pest and moisture indicators we see in homes in our region. Any of them is worth having looked at during an inspection.
Our specialists evaluate the underlying cause before recommending any work. Inspections are at no cost and there's no obligation to proceed.
Rozier is a family owned, faith-driven company based in South Hill. Because moisture is what invites termites and rodents in the first place, real prevention starts below the surface.
We treat the infestation and correct the moisture conditions that caused it, instead of handing you to a second contractor.
Each home we visit is assessed through a pest lens and a moisture lens, because underneath a house they are the same problem.
We do not arrive with a predetermined treatment and a timer running. What we propose follows from what we find.
Children, pets and sensitive family members are part of the decision about what gets used and how it is applied.

Every home is different, so the cost depends on what we find during the inspection. We provide a written estimate based on the scope of work, access, and site conditions.
Pricing depends on the size of the property, the extent of the problem, and how easy the area is to access.
If the inspection points to a different problem or a simpler solution, we’ll explain that and recommend the appropriate next step.
We put the scope and price in writing before work starts, so you know what has been recommended and what it will cost.
Every mosquito control service we offer, matched to what the inspection actually finds.
