Baits That Work Where Sprays Cannot
A bait is food the pest carries home, which is how it reaches a colony or nest that no spray can get to.
What Pest Baiting Systems Are and When They Are the Right Call
Baiting depends on getting the pest to accept the bait, so it starts with identification. Different ants prefer sugars or proteins at different times of the season, and the wrong bait is ignored. German cockroaches take a gel bait placed in the cracks and voids where they harbor. Rodents are wary of anything new and need stations placed along the paths they already use. The inspection tells us which pest, where it is traveling and what it will take.
Placement follows the pest. Ant bait goes on the trail, at the point where the ants enter the room and at the outside entry point, in small amounts the workers can carry. Cockroach bait goes into harborage, not out in the open. Rodent stations go along walls, in the crawl space and at the entry points, because rodents run edges and avoid open floor. Every rodent bait we place is inside a tamper resistant station, locked, anchored and labeled, so children, pets and wildlife cannot reach the bait.
Baits are slow by design. Ants have to carry it home and share it, which takes days. Rodents need to find and accept the station before they feed. During that time you will see the pest at the bait, and that is what should happen. Spraying near a bait placement stops it working, so we ask you to leave the placements alone.
Baiting is the right call for ants inside the house, for light cockroach activity and as part of a rodent program. It is not the whole answer on its own. A severe German cockroach infestation needs a HEPA vacuum cleanout and a liquid application as well. Rodents keep coming until the entry points are sealed, which is why the Rodent Prevention Program exists for properties under constant pressure. No bait changes the moisture or the gaps that brought the pest in, so we pair baits with non repellent liquid barriers for ants and with exclusion for rodents. The inspection, which is free and carries no obligation, settles the combination.
How We Set Up a Pest Baiting System
Identify the pest and its trail
The technician confirms the species and traces where it is entering and traveling. Bait only works if the pest accepts it, so the type of bait is chosen to match what that pest is feeding on now.
Place ant and cockroach baits along the path
Gel, granule or station baits are placed on the ant trails, at entry points and inside the cracks and voids where cockroaches harbor. Placements are small, out of reach of children and pets and away from any sprayed surface.
Set tamper resistant rodent stations
Rodent bait goes only inside locked, anchored, labeled stations, placed along walls, in the crawl space and at the entry points rodents are using. Stations are never placed in the open.
Leave the bait to work
Ants carry bait back to the colony over several days. Rodents take time to accept a new station. Activity at the bait is expected, and the placements are left undisturbed.
Follow up and adjust
On the Rodent Prevention Program, your written service agreement sets how often stations are checked. Ant and cockroach placements are checked and refreshed where activity continues.
Close the path
Bait reduces the population, while sealing the entry points and correcting moisture keeps it from rebuilding. Exclusion and crawl space conditions are scoped at the same inspection.
A Local, Family Owned Team in South Hill
Rozier is a family owned, faith-driven company based in South Hill. Because moisture is what invites termites and rodents in the first place, real prevention starts below the surface.
We treat the infestation and correct the moisture conditions that caused it, instead of handing you to a second contractor.
Each home we visit is assessed through a pest lens and a moisture lens, because underneath a house they are the same problem.
We do not arrive with a predetermined treatment and a timer running. What we propose follows from what we find.
Children, pets and sensitive family members are part of the decision about what gets used and how it is applied.

Pest Exclusion and Gap Sealing
Exclusion closes the openings insects and rodents are actually using, so fewer of them reach the inside in the first place.
